Leones Anáhuac, world ice hockey champions

Students from the Anáhuac Elite Sports Excellence Program were members of the Mexican men's ice hockey team that won the Division III B World Championship.
We are proud to announce that Said Ayala and Brandon Méndez, who are both members of the Anáhuac Elite Sports Excellence Program at Anáhuac Mexico University, were part of the Mexican men's ice hockey team that won the Division III B World Championship.
The Mexican team's victory in the tournament, which took place from April 27 to May 3, 2025, in Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico, represents a significant step forward for Mexican ice hockey. The team earned promotion to Division II, Group B of the international circuit.
The national team delivered an impeccable performance, finishing the tournament undefeated and showcasing solid teamwork. Additionally, Said and Brandon exemplified their commitment and dedication to the sport and the positive influence of university programs that foster the development of high-performance athletes.
Undoubtedly, this championship is a victory not only on the ice, but also a reflection of the growth and professionalization of ice hockey in Mexico. The blend of experience and youth, coupled with the backing of dedicated educational institutions, bodes well for the future of this sport.
